Public, political status quo and some distorted facts!

Public, political status quo and some distorted facts!
By: Muhammad Sarfraz Abbasi

It is a famous quote of a great philosopher Aristotle, “Anyone can become angry. That is easy. But to be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose and in the right way... that is not easy”. Keeping this quote in mind when I think over the political history of the country and contribution of the common man in it, I feel so thwarted. I see, emotional admirers who support to some particular political parties for some indefinite reasons and do not like reviewing their purpose of support to them. I see, women of the country with “not my business” attitude towards political system of the country and a  very aggressiveness youth. Being aggressive is not bad in fact it is positive factor which has been considered as a vital trait seen among the renowned achievers. However, being “negatively aggressive” is of course something that is a great cause of concern.

If we review the happenings in the past we can effortlessly understand that military regimes in Pakistan acted as sense of freedom snatcher from an ordinary person. Every adventurer who came in power from Iskandar Mirza to Perwaiz Musharraf kept the key focus on keeping political forces under the knee to prolong his regime. This doctrine of the military backed dictators was not much appreciated by the political brains of the country may be this was reason that every time military regime ended because of the same political forces to whom they never allowed to be established. However, biggest loss of all this was borne by the nation in a way that a particular bunch of people always remained in power by holding strong influence on political parties and hence basic ideology of democracy never got to flourish. Gen. Zia among others, banned students political activities in educational institutions which in today’s time is considered as the biggest reason behind weak and deprived democratic set up in the country. Resultantly, today, people of the country keep away from politics and this attitude is leading the nation to a modern kind of slavery. On the other hand, people which takes interest in political activities they don’t put efforts to understand whatever is being told to them is right or wrong, myth or reality and is it true or false. They listen to a few storytellers, rely on them and start speculating that whatever was told to them was true.

The public of this country should think on it that status que parties will never allow any person or party to raise its head. Because irony of our nation is that, a particular group of people to whom we call “elites” are ruling our country. They are big politician, they acquire top positions in armed forces, they are in bureaucracy and judiciary and they are also leading industrials’ and feudal lords and this bunch of people will never allow PTI like parties to rise. A deep thinking on the matter is inevitable for our nation. These status quo parties have always tried to push their political opponents to the wall. The nation should remember how Pakistan Muslim League had spent million of rupees to defame Mr. Imran Khan by doing his character assassination.

Acceptability for the new entrants in mainstream politics is very difficult. Today, we see, PTI's chairman, Imran Khan, who has a history of great services to the nation, is being victimized. They attack his personal life and despite of based on 16 years long journey he is being tagged as an establishment person. I question to this political mafia, where was establishment when Punjab Police was beating his sisters on roads and many were making fun of them? Where was establishment when Qazi Hussain Ahmed, leader of Jamat-e-Islami had approved his visit to the Punjab University and than his activist attacked him and humiliated him and kept him in hostage for several hours? How a man who has never been part of any government office has become more important than Nawaz Sharif and others for Taxes payments and Assets declarations. If youth of the nation does not understand the gravity of the situation and do not change its mindset than history will never forgive us. And for those who still believe these ruling elites and defenders of the status que should be given one more time that I would only congratulate my nation on having Bhutto-Zardari like products available to welcome and prolong its slavery.
