The inside story of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s meeting with the social media activists.

I was invited at Sindh Governor House Karachi where I had the honor of meeting with the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Imran Khan along with other social media notables. After the wait of a few minutes, Prime Minister Imran Khan entered in the meeting room along with Mr. Imran Ismail, Governor Sindh, Mr. Asad Umar, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives, Mr. Ali Haider Zaidi, Minister for Maritime affairs, Mr. Shibli Faraz, Federal Minster for Information and Broadcasting and Dr. Arsalan Khalid, Prime Minister’s focal personal on social media.

Prime Minister Imran Khan was kind enough to welcome us all the participants first and then he shared the objective of his today's meeting with social media activists.  Broadly speaking, there were four major areas were undertaken for the discussion which included Role of opposition in the legislation of FATF bill, Pakistan’s landmark success against COVID-19, The Karachi Transformation Package and Responsibility of the Social Media Activists in confidence re-building of nation by promoting optimism and truth.

The FATF Challenge

Prime Minister Imran Khan started his addressed by sharing a brief history of Pakistan’s being placed on FATF grey list and way forward. Prime Minster told the participants that the country was put on FATF grey list during time of PML-N government back in 28th June 2018. Prime Minister was of the view that he and his team were fighting so hard to get a FATF bill passed from the national assembly which is a precondition to prevent Pakistan from being on FATF blacklist. Prime Minister said that it is very important for the youth of our country to know what will happen in case Pakistan is placed on FATF blacklist. Prime Minister said, if Pakistan blacklisted by the FATF it will certainly default, because in order to run the country we need resources and currently we don't have sufficient resources to run our country. Moreover, we will also be facing deadly sanctions in case of being placed on FATF blacklist. The Prime Minister continued to say that being a blacklisted country our foreign exchange reserves will deteriorate in the matter of days which will result in depreciation of our currency which will result in an unprecedented inflation and economic disaster. Prime Minister further said, in this point in time those politicians of the opposition parties should stand with the country instead of their party leaders who have brought the country to this point. Prime Minister Imran Khan looked unhappy to say that unfortunately still some member of opposition parties are busy in protecting their leaders. Prime Minister further sad all those so-called leaders who are involved in corruption want NRO as a reward against their support in FATF bill. The Prime Minister further elaborated that in order to have the FATF bill passed from the national assembly,  PTI government needs the support of the opposition parties but they want to bargain, they actually want to strike a deal which is NRO against their support in FATF bill but this is not going to happened Prime Minister looked determined.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has further said that during the past 2 and half years of his Government, the opposition has demanded NRO several times but when they go in public or on media they outright deny. However, now we have solid proof to show to the people that they have proposed amendments in NAB ordinance. They want us to incorporate those amendments in NAB ordinance to make NAB a toothless rather useless accountability institution.

Pakistan’s COVID-19 success makes to be a case study.

Prime Minister Imran Khan while talking to the social media activists said that, with the outbreak of COVID-19 he and his team were brutally criticized from all sides as if Pakistan was the only country facing this calamity. Mr. Khan has also said that for the opposition any such opportunity is a blessing in disguise but unfortunately some notable social-media activists were also trapped by them. Prime Minister further said, that he was of the view that his country cannot afford any such lockdown for a longer time. I knew we will be compelled to resume business activities where sudden regrouping of a large number of people will eventually lead to a disaster and if that happens, it will not be manageable for us, I therefore decided to go for smart lock down but I was brutally criticized and mocked by the opposition and a certain portion of the media, Prime Minister went on to say while deeply thinking. Prime Minister further said, even some of his cabinet members were also convinced that Murad Ali Shah was perhaps doing better than the Federal government in combating the deadly virus, but, all those who believed in me fortunately have come to know that God has blessed us with an unprecedented success. We smartly dogged COVID-19 which has earned a great deal of respect for the Pakistan from the Global community. Today Pakistan’s success against the COVID-19 have become a case study for many countries.

Prime Minister was very much clear that how this funding will be utilized. Prime Minister Imran Khan further said that the second biggest problem of Karachi is encroachments on nullahs but work on the resolution of this issue has already kick started under National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). Prime Minister further said that in order to resolve the issue of encroachment of nullah some people will be displaced but since they are the poorest Sindh government has taken responsibility for resettling them. Spread Hopefulness – Positivity does wonders

In the last point of his discussion, Prime Minister Imran Khan told social media activists that a certain portion of media and opposition were deliberately spreading fake news to sabotage the confidence of the nation in PTI government. Prime Minister has said, that the opposition doesn't have any credibility left to go back to the people for support because people don't stand with them as these are the mafias who have destroyed future of Pakistan. Today when these corrupted people are facing their cases, some of them are out of Pakistan on the run while those who are here they do their best to avoid the presenting before the NAB even if they are summoned. Prime Minister also said that, I have heard that all the platelets of Nawaz Sharif have been restored and he is all set to come back to Pakistan to face the courts. Prime Minister further said it is interesting to see that all these so-called the opposition parties are using shoulders of Maulana Fazlur Rahman because they don't have a public support with them while unfortunately Maulana Fazlur Rahman uses children of madras for his dirty politics.

Prime Minister also said that in such a time, when at one side our country is facing the challenge of being placed on FATF blacklist, and on the other side, there is an opposition which is apparently pursuing Indian agenda to damage Pakistan. In such a testing time, our social media activists should understand their role and responsibility in confidence building of the nation. Prime Minister advised, you all must spread optimism and hope among the people of our country because I have realized most of the very good writers and thinkers among you are sometime trapped by opposition through their fake news and scammed narratives said Prime Minister Imran Khan in his concluding remarks.
